The last two Sundays we have had the privilege of platform ministry again - today to Clapton for our Sunday placement, last weekend to Cardiff Ely for YP Annual.
We are enjoying the placement at Clapton - but today I am struck by the contrasts of a worshipping community in a challenging inner city area, a congregation of haves and have nots certainly, but also what the iChurch people would call "messy church". Someone commented that some of the people don't know how to behave in church, but as I reflect on the way in which people so readily accept us, share with us in conversation and, through their own response and participation in worship, minister to us - maybe it's not so messy after all...

How's it going? Waiting for your blog comment about your appointment. Oldham eh? That's Oop North you know! I've heard it's cold up there and they speak funny! Here ends this Geography graduate's knowledge of Oldham (other than they're doing OK in League 1) - must be strange to be getting your TP following you as a DC too!
Take care and love to Lynley and the family
Hi Garry,
I did try and post something on ruralarmy about our appointment, but blogger was being a bit of a silly blogger and wouldn't let me. We're just back from a brief fact-finding tour of Oldham and Manchester, and we have quite a lot to get our heads round. Our hall is where the Oldham riots took place and we are in an area of racial tension still. We are also in an ex-Anglican church complete with bell tower! Whilst sur[rised by the appointment we are looking forward to the challenges ahead. Oldham Athletic will be more afforadable than Man U, so I am glad they are doing OK. Also, it's Rugby League country and we old-Westcliffians are Union chaps!
Your prayers for the children at this time of transition are appreciated.
Bests.
Hey Stephen!
Know that everyone's thoughts and prayers from home are with you.
Take care and speak soon,
John :-D
